Hi all.
I'd need to know the technical reference about VITC Time code. In other
words I'd want to know which type of signal VITC is (i.e. a serial modulated
or parallel signal or other) and his behaviour. I have to report it to a
software programmer who has to syncronize his "earthquake simulating
program" (running on a Windows PC and connected to a simulating
seismic-board) to an audio-video eatrhquake movie. The video will probably
run on a used U-matic gear (because it has separate VITC trasmission at
cheap price [any other advice?]) and thru a syncronizer (BTW: which type I
could use) will have to reach the PC clock (it has an RS-232 socket) and
move the seismic board.
Anyone could help me?
Thanks
Fulvio

VITC is one line in the video signal which is not visible on the
screen (above the top of the visible lines). There is no standard
which line to use, therefore the Unitor8 lets you choose the line
(there is also an Auto feature).
The line contains a row of black and white spots which display the
bits of a SMPTE frame. I don't know the detailed format, there are
probably some sync and parity bits.
Usually this line is inserted twice in the video signal for backup purpose.
