It may be worthwhile to quote from a previous post...
HyperEdit as Drum editor:
Create a Mapped Instrument in the environment for drums. Setup the
channel and port. (Double click to open it; there's a GM default menu
option).
Use the Mapped Instrument in Arrange (appears in instrument list).
Once you have the Mapped Instrument sorted, there is a very quick way to
translate this into a Hyper Edit set. Put your Mapped Instrument track
into record, and play in a logical order, every note that you will
require for your Hyper Edit drum map. Then go into Hyper Edit using the
sequence you just recorded, followed by:
Hyper menu > Create Hyper Set
Hyper menu > Delete Event Definition (to get rid of the default
'Volume')
Hyper menu > Multi Create Event Definition... In the resulting dialog,
select 'All' and, voila, there's your drum map including the names from
the Mapped Instrument.
All you have to do then is decide on things like 'Penwidth' and 'Style'
options, grooves and any groups such as hi-hats (see 3.5 manual 'Hi-Hat
Mode' page 11-10. There's automatic grooves and grouping in Drum Edit.
Also, have as many Mapped Instruments as you like.
Groove away,
Ben H
