This is probably a wacky idea/question to toss around..
I wonder if the AGP port could be impletmented for applications other than
graphics. With it's high bandwith between the cpu and memory... it could
be the perfect gateway for crazy Audio DSP cards or something -without
placing a strain on the PCI bus.
I wonder if that's technically possible? Considering most BIOS allow you to
choose if you want the PCI or AGP a primary display adapter.
Heh - just an idea anyway.

It's technically possible but not practical for the following reasons:
1) The AGP slot always comes with a video card in there.
2) If the goal is to use some kind of bus in the computer that
is *not* PCI, then the Firewire port is very nicely equipped
for that.
3) You wouldn't find that many people willing to give up their
AGP video card and have to purchase a PCI video card. But everybody
has the available Firewire port (you can have up to 63 devices
there, and many Firewire items have a "thru" port).
