I have been a legitimate Logic user from ver.1.0 and have bought every
subsequent update up to and including ver. 5.0. Being a working producer
I don't always save my update CD's due to the high level of
disorganization that can take place in a active project studio, not to
mention moving literally from country to country. I of course have the
dongle from 4.5 but have misplaced the CD. I have been informed by
emagic that in order to receive my codes I'll have to buy the 4.5
upgrade as well on top of the money already spent on 5.0. I have always
had access to the cracks and the software underworlds vast software
reserves. I have chosen not to use these believing that the down to
earth approach emagic as a software developer has taken is still
sympathetic to the loyal customer. I have all receipts from the 4.5
purchase and will send this off soon to find out how far they will go.
Has anyone else out there had a similar problem or am I just a lone
victim of my own disorganization.

with problems such as this should contact him directly.

Yes,
I, too, lost my V4-CD (or threw it away not knowing that it will be required
for updating).
I sent emagic a fax of my V4 upgrade bill and I´m awaiting their
reply.

Folks who are legitimate owners of Logic4 could have
purchased it along any point in version 4's life-cycle,
from 4.0 to 4.8. Therefore, they could have received
anywhere from the Volume 1 to Volume 9 CD (I think
there might be more?), any of which would naturally
apply.

me and some of my friends are exactly in the same situation!, i hope
something is changed regarding these rules.
in supporting my local distributor's economy i even sometimes don't buy
items that are in sale in the states, in order to contribute
individually to have better conditions domestically, like if something
gets broken and i'm in an emergency to have a loaner, and the such...

Well, I purchased it with version 2.3, but my installer disc for version 4
is volume 6...

Sure, Volume6 is most definitely somewhere between Volume1
to Volume9 or higher. I guess I should have used the word
"inclusive".

The box said 'Requires Windows 95, or better.' So I bought a Macintosh.
He told me to contact emagic support.

Does the And/Or mean that you can get the upgrade code by
sending in the key alone? Because my original master CD's are
gone lost forever...

No, it does mean that you have to contact the tech support and they will try
to find a solution together with you.

AFAIK that is it, at least that's the disc with the version 4.0 installer on
it..
Malcolm
There's an interesting thread on EXS-users regarding the lack of
velocity cross-fades on the EXS24.
One post went:
And cross-faded velocity switching. My ASR-10 does this and it is how old?
It can't be that difficult to program (from a theoretical perspective at
least), when compared to other already-existing elements in the EXS24.
Then:
Strange...it was in an old beta of 4.7 and then they removed it (I thought
for the 5.0 release). Worked great too...very smooth! Maybe they will
release
it with a big EXS update??? (That would be nice!)
If this function was in a beta, why is it not in v5? This would be a
HUGE leap forward for the EXS24 .

I'm sure this has been covered already, but I missed it. Why is it that
Emagic needs the install CDs (for Logic, the other software is
understandable
since it is part of the copy proection) back? I mean so long as it isn't
usable without the dongle, what is the possible wrong use it could undergo?
Can't really re-sell it w/o the dongle right? I'm not asking to be a smart
*ss, just genuinely curious.

Because the dongle is the same for Logic 4 and Logic 3 and the 3=>5
Update
costs more than the 4=>5 Update.

Every Logic CD with version 5 or _higher_ is ok for us.
