Sven, I would take a close look at the device drivers. It only takes one "not ready for prime time" driver to mess up everything, and many of the manufacturers are saying that their win 2000 drivers are good for XP when they are not quite there. In short, if the device drivers don't say XP that is probably your problem. Even if the manufacturer says they are XP drivers, if they have not been tested by Microsoft (which most aren't) you will never realy know for sure. Also are you running V 4.8.1? If not upgrade (preferably to V.5). Additionly, check and make sure that you are running the program in Compatability mode for Win 2000. Right click Logic>Properties>Compatability>Win 2000 Next try uninstalling one audio related device at a time untill you find the ones that aren't playing well together. You may be able to run Logic OK by simply eliminating one of your cards, untill the drivers catch up. Of course this will require that the industry gets it's head out of the sand about 2000/XP driver compatability. Unfortunitly many manufacturers like MOTU are still insisting that their 2000 drivers work just fine and that there is no need for rushing further development. This is a reply to #98262.
Thank you for your suggestions. I have stripped the computer for cards, just the agp-card and dsp-factory, and a clean install xp and Logic still locks up during booting aslong as asio drivers are selected in the preferences in Logic. (Choosing compabilitymode doesn`t help.) This happens in win2000 as well. Is there anything more to do? Thank you!
