Subject: [OT] acoustics in Timber houses?
Message #98239
Sorry this is looks a bit odd, But I'm wondering does anyone here have their studio in a timber structure and are there any acoustic problems? and how about sound proofing, does sound travel through wood more so than concrete? Basically I'm getting a shed/ studio built for me down the back of my garden, but since my dad is a carpenter he'll be able to throw up a timber structure easier and cheaper than concrete... just wondering if anyone here has any advice on one of these... Sorry to post this to the main list but it can be hard to get a reply off the OT, so if could you reply to me personally or on the OT list that'd be great. thanks. Simon. If you were to leave the timber walls common to the interior, they will vibrate and hence, energy transfer will take place. I'd suggest you specify the dimensions of your studio to allow for a good 'air' gap in between your timber walls and your interior walls and apply good sealing techniques to both walls.
