This is a reply to #98224.
I've had lots of trouble with Midiman drivers and OMS. Midi drops out all the time, total restart is the only cure. I'm still having the same prob with the new vers.3 drivers. On the Midiman site there is alot of garbage about the USB floppy enabler and removing any Studio extensions in the OMS folder in the System folder. After doing this, I still have problems, just less frequently. chems from the Midiman Website: Having said this, users of MIDISport products (1x1, 2x2, 4x4, etc.) who wish to run under OMS 2.3.8 need to remove the OMS driver, "MIDIPORT 32 OMS DRIVER" from their OMS folder and then re-boot. This is imperative to Midisport owners who use Digidesign’s Pro Tools systems (5.0 or 5.01). The Midisport works fine once this driver is removed. Please note that it is "MIDIPORT 32 OMS DRIVER" and not "MIDISPORT OMS DRIVER" that needs to be removed. If you remove "MIDISPORT OMS DRIVER" the MIDISport will be disabled. Q: Will my MIDISport work in Mac OS9? A. Yes it will. However, it is necessary to have an extension called the "USB Floppy Enabler" placed in your extensions folder. Some programs will not launch without this extension in the system, but we understand now that OMS will not work properly without it. The USB Floppy Enable is a free download, either from www.paceap.com/usb_enabler.html or www.opcode.com/downloads under "Fixes." Q: Any other tips for the Mac user of the MIDISport? Virtual memory should be turned off. If it isn't, the MIDISport will not function normally. To do this, go to the Apple Menu | Control Panel | Memory, and check 'off'. You will need to restart your computer for this to take effect. MIDIPORT 32/ 96 These are OMS drivers for an Opcode MIDI device that cause conflicts with our drivers. I assume you don't own either of these devices. Do a search in sherlock for MIDIPORT and trash the oms drivers that come up. Also read FAQ Q3. USB Floppy Enabler. Opcode requires this extension be installed and turned on. http://www.paceap.com/hmdlusbdriver.html. Also read FAQ Q4. Do you have a Digi 001? The OMS driver for this device also causes conflicts with our drivers. Remove the Digi001 oms driver from the OMS folder. Also check out Digi 001 with MIDISport. After all this has been checked, do a sherlock search for OMS Current state, trash it, restart your computer. Then do a new Studio Set up in OMS. -- _____________________________________________ blue alien house inc. http://www.galaxymall.com/site/bluealienhouse an interstellar media-arts collective _____________________________________________
