No news here. True, if you have not paid for LAMP you can't just use EXS24 by itself. But just because you have a LAMP dongle does not mean you get EXS24 for free. Without a dongle you can't use LAMP 4.x and therefore can't use EXS24 but not everyone who has a LAMP dongle has paid for EXS24. > 1. Even if you have the 'new' dongle........you can still use > the EXS24. > But can you use the 'new' dongle an another machine? Yes! Emagic employees have been very clear about this, on this very list. Say you have paid for Logic and EXS24. If you put your XSKey dongle into someone else's computer (who might own Logic but does personally does own EXS24), EXS24 will be available... *As long as your dongle is in the computer*. Once you take your dongle out EXS24 won't work anymore. If they then put their XSKey in the computer that just has Logic paid for and not EXS24, of course EXS24 won't work either. > Emagic have no justification, in principle or ethically, to ask existing users, who > have funded their growth, to once again pay for some new copy protection > scheme, AND, this is the insulting part.......to ask existing users to > send in the dongles and CDs that they paid for with their hard earned > money plus pay the return expences. . You have to pay $150 for the Logic 5 upgrade. If you already own EXS24 you don't have to pay any extra fees. You are sending back your old dongles and old CDs to get the new activation code and new Logic 5 CD. I agree it would be nice if Emagic paid the shipping cost but I think you are more concerned with actually having to pay for EXS24 than with the $6 shipping cost! > Most of us using multiple machines do so because we cannot do our work > entirely on one machine. Great. As long as you have paid for Logic and EXS24 yourself, you can insert your XSkey dongle into all the machines you want to, and *as long as your dongle is inserted* you can use EXS24 and all the other plugins (ES1, ES2, EVOC20, etc) you've paid for on that machine.
