Subject: [LAMP] USB midi interface with LA
Message #98081
Hi all, I've been using LA with Motu USB midi interface on PC almost 2 yrs, and am thinking about switch to Mac. I heard that there's some issue with MIDI configuration on Mac: With OMS, you can ONLY use a serial port connected interface from Mac. This really stinks if you have a Power Mac G3 or G4 . With USB support, you have to use Logic Audio's own setting, but it ONLY supports Emagic's own MIDI interface with USB connection. Is that true.....??? Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. No. OMS supports USB as well, no problem (I have a G4 with a Motu Fastlane 2x2 USB interface). You have to use OMS as soon as you have a non-Emagic midi interface. With Emagic interfaces, Logic supports the interface 'natively' and thus you can dump OMS -- as long as you don't need Inter Application Communication, which is only provided by the so-called OMS IAC busses (and so forces you to use OMS again :). -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra <h@...> Omega Art: http://www.ision.nl/users/h/index.html

On this subject I have a question: I have one unitor8 mk2 and one studio4 connected to LAMP. The studio4 runs with a stelthport. At the physical input object I cant find the inputs of the studio4. Data is coming in on the "sum" outlet, but I need to grab the in puts individually. The unitor inpus show up correct and present the midi coming in on ports 1-8. Where are the inputs of the studio4? Thank for your help. Ulf. >> I heard that there's some issue with MIDI configuration on Mac: >> >> With OMS, you can ONLY use a serial port connected interface from >> Mac. I would like to repost my question which was part of another tread but did not get answered although I imagine its I am missing something very obvious: I have one unitor8 mk2 and one studio4 connected to LAMP. I would like to re-re-post my question in hope that is got overseen since the list list was kind of buisy with ot. and i guess i am missing something absolutely obvious since i seem to be the onlyone with such trivial problem... ;) *** I have one unitor8 mk2 and one studio4 connected to LAMP. The studio4 runs with a stelthport. At the physical input object I cant find the inputs of the studio4. Data is coming in on the "sum" outlet, but I need to grab the in puts individually. The unitor (connected via usb) inpus show up correct and present the midi coming in on ports "u" 1-8. Where are the inputs of the studio4? there are no outs labled "m" on the physical input object, but the studio4 is sitting on my modem(stealth)port. also there is nothing comming in on the single "p" outlets only at the "sum". what am i missing? Thank for your help. Ulf. _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com
