Just thought I'd be a bit more positive!
FWIW I think the new automation is excellent. I work alot with
softsyths - now you just pick a parameter - by name - draw in a nice
curve and bingo - it's done. It's so easy to tweak to things that
you just wouldn't have thought about automating before (because you
had to dig out the controller number, make sure you didn't have a
effect in the necxt slot etc...) - this leads to more
experimentation which can only be a good thing. You also get
control of the parameter you're automating by moving the slider
directly in the arrange window - very handy.
And of course if you don't like it, the old automation is still
there.
Also bear in mind that mutiple undos & multiple VST outs are coming
very soon. This all adds up to a very worthwhile and good value
updgrade. Especiialy when you consider the free upgrades from 4.0 -
> 4.8.1 over the last few years. If the same service is going to
take us from 5.0 -> 5.8 it's going to be a great two years!

Yes, but you could have gotten all this without leaving the "object
based"
nature that logic had in the first place.
And that¹s where the new automation breaks (and sucks as an other
thread
reads).

Uli.

It's still there.
