Subject: GEN Logic's EQ: How far can you go?
Message #97993
OK so I treated the acoustic of my room. I bought a pair of Genelec 1030a. I filled the stands with sand. I positioned everything very symmetrically. My monitors and myself form an equidistant triangle. And yet, when listening to a full mix, I have trouble hearing my EQ changes. I'll switch the EQ on/off, several time, and hear no difference. When I solo the track, I hear a slight difference, but usually nothing too convincing unless I add or substract more than 12dB, which..is A LOT! So should I rush to an ENT doctor to have my ears purged, or is that all Logic's EQ can do? Are you happy with it? Can you mix with Logic's mixer EQ, or do you use plug-ins? Thanks. Much depends on the source material...no point adding top to a very bass dominant instrument - but generally speaking you should be able to hear whats going on. I use the FAT Eq a lot - and although its not a Focusrite Red, or a Drawmer it is perfectly usable.
