Hello, I have the same problem; changing the midi channel to "ALL" doesn't help. See below. I created an "audio instrument" in Logic. I recorded a kick drum on channel one, and clicking on channel one in sampletank also. I then recorded a bass guitar using channel 2 in sampletank. the problem is, When I change the channel to , say, 2(bass) on track 2, my original channel "one' changes to channel 2 in Logic also. No matter how many different instruments I record, if I change the channel in Logic, ALL THE CHANNELS in Logic change to the same channel, no matter if its 1,2,3,4, etc. How do I get logic to work with different channels? Or do you have to create multiple instances of your soft-synth (sampletank in this example). Logic has to be in PLAY mode and with the "Virtual Midi engine" ON... Igor

What you are doing here is changing the channel for that _entire_ Audio Instrument, so any midi notes on a track assigned to the Audio Instrument will be mapped to that channel regardless, and thus will all play that single sound no matter which copy of the track they are on. Your multitimbral Audio Instrument isn't multitimbral anymore, it's now assigned to a single channel. What you should be doing is leaving the Audio Instrument set to "all" channels, and ensure the notes themselves are on the appropriate midi channel for the sound you want (take a look at the midi sequence in the event list). There are a couple of ways to do this: 1 - when recording the track, set your midi keyboard to transmit on the appropriate channel (ie 1 = drums, 2 = bass, etc). Then duplicate the track, using the same Audio Instrument, and record again with your midi keyboard set to a transmit on a different channel. This is what I do with VSamp. Or 2 - If you can't change your keyboard transmit channel, pass incoming midi notes through a transformer to change their channel _before_ the midi gets recorded. I have a handy channelizer macro that may be useful to you, contact me privately if so. John Pitcairn
