My modem is on my PC (I have both, a pc and a mac) thus avoiding the problem
you're eluding to.
The Midi Express has a control panel where you can route all of the ins and
outs to each other, after which you don't need the computer on to use these
routings. Maybe your studio 4 has something similar? Occasionally, the Midi
Express get's bumped and I get something similar to your situation, but all
I have to do is set it to the correct user patch that I made to use with
Logic.
