Hmm...The DS doesn't really have direct "insert FX on a bus" per
se. There
are two generic on board FX engines. The only way to feed signal to them is
from each individual channel. You can't send a full main bus mix to an FX.
You can send a full Aux Bus 5&6 mix to FX1 and FX2 but not a separate
mix
to each. (Apparently you can send Aux 3&4 to them instead but I don't
know
how to do this). The limitation is that the 2 FX engines share the same
stereo input. So you can't send a mix to FX1 and a different mix to FX2.
You can control the amount of return from each of them and discretely
assign those returns to their own main busses, say 5&6 and 7&8
respectively.
You can send a discrete mix to an outboard FX unit via Aux 1&2, etc.
Then
bring this back in via the appropriate input channel, then assign that
channel to main bus 3&4 for example. So the bus assignment limitation is
a
bit stifling if you want to get really creative with your routing.
All of this is really easy to accomplish with CConsole once you know what's
going on. Some weeks ago I had posted a mini tutorial for using 3.6 in PCAV
mode with the DSPF. Let me know and I'll repost it.

Agreed,
