Yes, I get this too. > I don't understand how the DS is getting defaulted to all >channels disabled from a cold boot - All input channels are off, but the DS master stereo bus is assigned to all outputs as you saw in the OutPatch screen. However, audio sent to a DS driver from an app under DS default setting will present audio at the outputs. Look at page 25 of the DSPF manual at the Fixed Patchbay Diagram. This shows how the PCI playback 1-16 are hard wired to the outputs when using software that doesn't support DS control. >BTW, does Logic use the 8 busses or does it not have access to them (as >traditional busses with insert capability)? Well...no, at least not in LAWP3.6. I noticed that each Output Assign button on each Logic Mixer channel only had 2 stereo busses that it could be assigned to. There should be 4. There were other weird things but I got discouraged with it early so went back to PCAV mode. The bottom line was that it by no means allowed you to use the full power of the card. I don't know what's changed in 4.x however. >I assume that channels 17-24 >are in essence the 8 busses, and used for FX and input routing. No. These are completely separate things. 17-18 are the analog ins, 19-20 are the digital ins, 21-24 are the 2 stereo FX returns. Each of these pairs can itself be assigned to any of the 4 stereo busses, which can then be assigned to whatever output or PCI record driver or both, all, etc. Study the Block Diagram on page 18-19 of the DSPF manual. Any switches or level controls shown on this are controllable, and "should" be supported by any software claiming to have DSPF support. Otherwise, what's the sense? Randall
