I have been patiently waiting for the long promised ability
to record with software effects in Logic. I was again unsurprised
but dissapointed to see it not included in the latest update.
But it puzzles me to to see that it does not seem to be included as
a feature in Logic 5 either. Does anybody know if this is indeed the
case ?
Thanks George

Hi,
I used to think this was important. But, the more I think about
it....I mean with the latencies you can get with some of the soundcards
these days (take RME for example) you can play while monitoring the effects
(software monitoring). So you record the part hearing the effects but it
records it dry. This is good because say you used too much chorus or
distortion on a guitar, it isn't actually printed to the track. It's easy to
change the settings. Once you've finally decided on the effects settings you
can just bounce the track down and there you go. The only effect I would
consider valuable to record with is compression. But having Logic print this
to a track won't really do much as it's post A/D converters. So you don't
get the benefit like you would using an analog compressor before the
converters.
