Subject: LAWP: Just one interim fix 'release audio in background'
I have no problem in waiting until january but in the meantime could
they just fix 'release audio in background' so I can use Sound Forge.
I SECOND THIRD FOURTH AND FIFTH this one!!!! ,I've occasionally raised the
"release audio"problem on the list and reported it to Emagic but
an answer
has not been forthcoming either as to why it happens, possible solutions (if
there are any) or what the future prospects are. As far as Logic 5 is
concerned, when it's ready ,it's ready and I'll wait till then, I'm sure
it'll be worth the wait, it always is!!!
Cheers all

I've no doubt everyone has their own pet feature addition, and the whole V5
list looks pretty tasty to me.
IMO new features should definitely be left until V5 is good and ready,
although I'd add my support for the 'release audio' fix.
My real concern however is platform support, which I have no doubt Emagic
are watching closely as well. Maybe it's just people I know and work with,
but I get the impression there's currently a mass-exodus from Win98/ME, all
moving over to Windows 2000 and eventually WinXP.
I'm very much amongst this group and now looking very hard at Nuendo as a
result. Win2000 support as an interim update would not only be hugely
welcome from a user perspective, but might also ensure that Logic maintains
it's position at No.1 amongst producers who feel that Win2K is now the only
way to go.
In short, I'll happily wait for new devices, features, audio instruments,
automation etc., if Logic as it currently stands could run on Win2K.
Jules
PS. That DSP card latency fix would also be pretty welcome - seems to be
taking an awfully long time.

I dont want to anounce anything over here, but no one told it would
not be possible to release a win2k compatible Logic which is not 5.0 :)
So much so far...

Thanks Sascha
I appreciate you can't make guarantees, but at least this keeps the hope
alive! :)
This is a fairly big deal for quite alot of us, so a pre-5.0 Win2K version
would be fantastic news.

A quick question to those in the know : will existing vst and vsti plugins
run on Win2k or does one need vsti and vst fx that are specially designed
for Win 2k ? I am wondering about this because I would not want to move
over to Win2K only to learn that all my beloved plugins don't work anymore.
But the again the point will come when 98 / Me becomes obsolete - so what is
the likely future here ?
anyone ?
Cheers - D!

Hi,
I'm new in here, so excuse me if this is naive:
Does that mean that a 4.8 update for LAWP is likely to bring soon
some
extra-sunshine in our lives of happy LAW users, with more AudioInstr
and FX in our LSO's? In one word: Is it a good idea to order _now_
the
dual CPU card I planned to buy in early 2002...
Thank you, and thanks to all.

One important question is:
what exactly do you expect from a dual CPU system?

Hi Sascha and list:)
I'm expecting to be able to use more VSTintr and Logic effects. I use
Battery in all my songs, along with B4, EVP88 (Sometimes REAKTOR, but
it's unstable and takes 15 to 20 % of CPU, so I often bounce quickly
to .wav). If I add say 10-15 eq, comps or filters, I can hardly add a
platinum verb: then the driver's unable to process all data in time...
So I guess this is only a matter of CPU power...
So, what I'm expecting is to be able to keep my midi tracks
and effects editable until the final mixdown. The only solution I have
now is to bounce all(most of) my midi instr tracks and heavy-FXed
audio tracks into new .wav and start a new mix session with a clear
"AudioConfiguration" window, ya know with no blue button lit.
Please, tell me what you think of that expectation:)
Thanks
Pascal J.

MY system
LAWP 4.6.2
WIN98 2nd ed
PIII 1000eb
512 RAM
MRE digi PST, latest driver
scsi atlas HD 10K 18GB - controller 19160
IDE drive, CCDburner, etc.
I think I have a cheap jetway motherboard. Is that important?

If you really need more CPU power, you should get a faster single CPU.
