Hi there folks!
I was just trying to find a way to use sidechain-type
processing in LAP. Is this even possible...?
For instance, To use a kick- channel to compress a bassline-track.
I`ve been using this within Pro Tools for some time now, but
haven`t found a way to use this in PC -Logic Audio Platinum-
environment yet.
Yours, Sasu S.
p.s. I´m currently using LAP -Windows.
this might be what you are looking for, it shows how to set up a
compression side-chain.

I think this is a different type of side chain application. I don't
even know why it is called side-chain. What the original poster is
talking about (I think) is a ducking application, where the signal
detected by the input section of one compressor is being used to
attenuate another. Another classic side-chain application is de-essing.
I don't know how to get Logic to do either, so maybe an expert can
enlighten us.

I didn't see that either, we called that padding, at a studio I
once worked. After reading that link, I wondered why he didn't just
use an aux send set for "pre-send' and assign that to a bus with your
compressor inserted, and then mix it in. Or even some compressors,
like the PSP stuff, have a dry/wet fader right on it's control panel.
Compress the crap out of it, and then just use the wet/dry fader for
balance. Whatever...
Don't think sidechaining is availible yet in Logic, that'd be good
for the wish list.

hmmm. no cigar! I'll try again.
Maybe this is closer to desired effect? found somewhere in the faq on

7.86 Sidechain
I'm doing a voiceover. How do I use the Logic Compressor in sidechain
mode so
that the Voice controls the level of the music?
Try summing all Your playback tracks on a Bus and put a compressor on
that bus.
Now set the Key input of that compressor from Your vocal track (make
sure Your
vocal track is not routed to that bus). Adjust Your compression.

It´s one of the features for Logic 5

And that "KEY INPUT" is where?

Ooooops I believe "post-send" would be better, and then just mix
what
you want in your "pad", some or all of tracks.
d :)
