Subject: RE: [LUG] [LAW] VSTi Automation
Message #69823
Thanks, I'll give it a try. I am fairly new to Logic so its gonna take me some time, but I'll post how it goes to the list. Mike -----Original Message----- From: Joeri Vankeirsbilck [mailto:joeri@...] Sent: Saturday, June 30, 2001 4:20 PM To: logic-users@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [LUG] [LAW] VSTi Automation > if it is possible to automate knobs within a VSTi such as the Pro52?...Any > suggestions? It is possible to automate knobs of a VSTi... but the Pro52 is a special case. Afaik, the Pro52 doesn't automate well in Logic. to automate it, put it in "control" view instead of the grafical editor. Cable your VSTi channels to a channel splitter just like you did for audio channels. Then select such a channel splitter in the arrangement and record the movements on it. I think this should work. Subject: [LUG] [LAW] Serious problem with LSO format? help!
Message #69824
This is a reply to #69823.
Hi, ive posted twice about Logic's whimsical decision to convert source files or to just show everything as invalid objects, and nobody seems to know the answer. Is this something Emagic is fixing for version 5? Am I the only one to see it behave so erratically in this fashion, or are there certain characteristics about the LSO that make Logic be able to convert the objects in it? any help would be appreciated, I am really really stuck here. Ian

Is this something Emagic is fixing for version 5? Over here, Logic always converts audio formats correctly. There was only one time when it didn't work, and that was when the client that was in my studio told me he had used a cracked version of Logic to make his song. So, I could still have been a bug of Logic that it didn't convert PC AV to ASIO correctly, but in his case I didn't even bother checking it due to his illegal version. PS: couldn't you just copy the audio configuration settings as a workaround? (open audio configuration, select all, copy, then go to the driver type you wish to copy to, paste) Bye, Joeri -- Joeri Vankeirsbilck joeri@... I'm not exactly sure, from your description, what you mean. But I don't believe I've ever heard of that happening before, to me, or on this list. I may have missed it. I would think that is something to do your operating system (even a virus), or possibly, somehow, another application is doing something to those files. I really don't know.... That's why there hasn't been any response to your message, is I don't believe anyone had that happen to them. Maybe someone will shed some light yet. regards, df

Well, sometimes on my own system, after I switch to ASIO drivers, when i load projects created on the old driver (same driver ,same OS, same everything) it will ask to convert. sometimes it will not. and it will never open on my bandmates' computers. > That's why there hasn't been any response to your message, is I > don't believe anyone had that happen to them. Do you mean the warning window "will never open", or the song will not open on your bandmate's computers? Have you tried to unistall Logic, and then reinstall it again to see if it still does this mess? Also, make sure you say yes to the association to lso files, you should be able to open the correct version of Logic, byt just double click on the lso file itself. I'm not sure if any of this has anything to do with your dilemma. If it's not too much of a problem for you, I believe I'd rename the windows folder, if you don't want to reformat, and reinstall windows, and all your other apps, including Logic. Make sure you have a startup floppy with cd support, before you do something like that. Obviously I'm just fishing for anything to help you. I will say that, this problem is not common to Logic, AFAIK. So look to some other area for a fix, unless someone on this list finally comes forward to say that they have had this happen also. Come on LUG, anybody else had this happen to them. If it's not Logic causing this problem, Ian needs to know. Again, good luck, df

Well, after the converting to your audio configuration, and you save that, it want show that warning again, unless you add something on a different audio configuration, then bring back home on your's again. Then you'll have to convert it again. Is that what you're talking about? You go to your bandmates and add some audio and then come home to your system again? What does LSO format have to do with this problem? Is your LSO files getting there extensions changed or something? When you were talking about "source" changing, what do you mean? Do you mean that the song file cannot find it's audio files? df
