I'm guessing that the dongle always needs to be in one of the 2 usb ports on
my tipb g4, but could I run the mt4 from a usb hub? I'd like to get a cheap
roland usb audio device for digital out to my ad/da.
Can anyone recommend a good usb hub?

Hi again,
Try to use an USB with AC Adaptator or a small on with a Laptop, but again
"better try before buy !"

i am using 2 Xircom's (AC powered). sometimes (with my ADSL modem
and my USB buslight) i get a message that "a device is drawing too
much power - the port has been shut down" so i can't recommend
unreservedly. most everything works tho'

The dongle and MT4 are working just fine for me while attached
to a Highlight HU834 4-port hub, in bus-powered or adapter-
powered mode. I also have a Griffin iMate attached to the hub,
running an ADB keyboard & mouse.
Griffin iMic (stop laughing!) is in the other USB port on the PBG4,
using the USB-ASIO driver. Works OK, extremely portable, not a
real solid audio solution though - I'll be getting either the MOTU
828 or the RME Cardbus/Multiface quite soon.

Sure. The dongle fully complies to the USB standard, so it also
supports USB hubs.

If you want to connect the audio device to the hub, make sure that
the hub supports USB 1.1 and is self-powered.
I have all my USB stuff (AMT8, EMI 2|6, Microsoft IntelliMouse, Logic
dongle, Logitech QuickCam, Contour jog wheel) connected to a no-name
7 port hub ("USB-2000"), which is connected to my TiBook.

Looks like a "tres k3wl" product indeed. But what is not clear
from
their info page is: is this thing meant as an add-on extra-13-buttons
next to your mouse, or does it replace the mouse completely? Anyone?
cheers,
HJ

No, these buttons are freely assignable, either they can simulate
keyboard key presses or launch applications etc.
