Subject: Lamp: Problems with LM-4
Message #66648
Hi All, The LM-4 is slowly growing on me, but I am having some problems. I have a G4/500 with 512 megs of ram and OS 9.04. When I run a song with a couple of EXS 24 instruments and one (Wizoo) LM-4 kit, I get sounds dropping out on the LM-4 . When I try and relaunch the song, I get errors saying there isn't enough memory to load the plugins (two or three EXS 24s, one LM-4, and two or three Logic plugins). I have plenty of memory assigned to Logic. I tried it with Logic at apprx 62 megs amd then again with about 73 megs. This is _way_ more than it should need. Unless the LM-4 takes/uses memory differently in Logic than the other plugins and EXS. I obvioulsly also have plenty of free system ram available. So how do I optimally set the ram allocation to handle these multiple soft instrument instances? -- Eli Krantzberg Nightshift Orchestra / Almat Productions

Some VST ( maybe the LM-4) aren't work good with the free memory allocation :o( ( like the PPG...i had to allocate 100 Mo manually because Logic crash everytime.....) Igor

Eli asked: >So how do I optimally set the ram allocation to handle these multiple >soft instrument instances? I don't think there is a simple answer. While some (most?) plug ins seem to grab their memory outside Logic's share some do not. I had troubles trying to open some of the Dynamo instruments untill I gave more memory for my LAMP. This issue might not be resolved untill we have everything working in OS X. Cheers -- Check out the web page for my band: Now solo works also: New home address : http://koti.welho.com/jpennane
