Any one have any experience with the XLR8 dual processor upgrade and
logic. I recenctly was able to score some relatively cheap memory
for my aging 7600 so now it's up to 480 megs of RAM. The high cost
of memory for older Macs was one of the things making me thing of
buying a new one. I am really tempted to get one of the XLR8 dual
cards instead though. Anyone using one with logic?

Hi Dennis,
I would recommend not to do this, because without the fast memory bus of the
recent PowerMacs (which is 7 times faster than with 7xxx machines) this
makes no sense. Theoretically you have much more cpu power, but there
bottlenecks everywhere in those old systems. Also the price is allmost as
high as a new 450MP, which you can get really cheap at this time since there
are still some on stock.
Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but I would take very much care with such
an upgrade.... Also you will have problems to run OS X some day when the
time has come to change - even if this migh be in a year or so.
Best
Ray
