I don't beleive as far as Apple is concened there is a 8.6.1. I
remember reading there was a small batch of CD's mis labeled.
from Apple.................
"This is a misprint on a limited number of the CD-ROM discs, part
number
691-2321. The actual
version of the Mac OS on the CD is 8.6, there is no version
8.6.1.
This misprint also affects the Macintosh Server G3 CD part number
691-2322, as well as the
SoftRaid CD part number 691-2329.
New CDs are being introduced into the Accessory Kits with the
correct Mac OS version listed. "
