Hi,
as I am considering buying the Mackie HR-824s, I might as well join in
here. Does anyone use them, and what do you guys think? Our control room
is quite small, but I'd like some more punch than what our Alesis
Monitor 1s can deliver. Any comments aprpreciated.
Cheers,
Recky
Well they are excellent i used to use monitor 1's and
event 20/20 bas's but neither can compare to my
hr824's

Hello Recky,
I've been using the Mackies for about a year now, and they sound
great. Their sound is full and seems to be fairly accurate, though
it seems as if their highs and lows have been enhanced (i.e. they're
much "nicer" to listen to than NS10-M's). I'll admit I haven't
done
a lot of high volume monitoring, but what little I've done has left
me impressed.

I use a pair, and I love them. I was using a pair of B&W home stero
speakers, and I checked out the Genelecs (expensive, a bit too bright,
not enough bass in the models I could afford) and the Events (a bit
"thick" sounding, not very lively). The KRK V8s are very nice, not
as much low-end oomph as the mackies, but a bit more natural high
midrange.
IMHO. YMMV.

Reckey,
For such a small speaker, they will certainly give you a seious
sound!! Very easy on the ear for all those long, hard sessions. They
All pro's that come into my studio comment on how fantastic they
sound and that they are "much better than the nearest priced
Genelecs. Listen .... buy ..... enjoy ..... marvel.

Two more words: "your opinion". Personally I love my 1029.
Ultimately
it's your room and your ears that decide which works best for you.
