Hi, as I am considering buying the Mackie HR-824s, I might as well join in here. Does anyone use them, and what do you guys think? Our control room is quite small, but I'd like some more punch than what our Alesis Monitor 1s can deliver. Any comments aprpreciated. Cheers, Recky

Their sound is full and seems to be fairly accurate, though it seems as if their highs and lows have been enhanced (i.e. they're much "nicer" to listen to than NS10-M's). I'll admit I haven't done a lot of high volume monitoring, but what little I've done has left me impressed. HTH, James

I was using a pair of B&W home stero speakers, and I checked out the Genelecs (expensive, a bit too bright, not enough bass in the models I could afford) and the Events (a bit "thick" sounding, not very lively). The KRK V8s are very nice, not as much low-end oomph as the mackies, but a bit more natural high midrange. IMHO. YMMV. -smeet
