Subject: LAWG--Automation problem/question
Message #52894
Hi: I'm trying to mix this song that has a lot of automation (for me)in it, including a faded ending. I wanted to put a fader bang (right term?) at the very beginning of the song which would reset all the faders in the audio mixer in their proper positions. Sooo..... after setting all my faders the way I wanted them, I went to the beginning of the song, record-enabled A-Playback, put Logic in record-pause and hit "V", which my Key Commands window tells me is shorthand for "send all current fader values". Then hit stop. An object appeared in the track, and when I highlighted it and opened an event list window, lots of volume, eq and pan info for the different channels appeared. However, all the vol and pan stuff was _wrong_. I tried again: same problem. Then I erased the object, manually reset the faders, put Logic in record-pause, selected all the faders, wiggled them a little, and returned them to the correct positions. I ran the song through the faded ending, returned to zero....and still didn't get the correct values back. I'm puzzled. Anyone out there know what's going on? Thanks in advance. ~ Mike B. This is a reply to #52894.
How many tracks (objects) do you use? You have to use one channel splitter for every 16 objects (named A-Playback for 1-16, B-Playback for 17-32 etc.). Then select e.g. the A-Playback track for recording the values and select ONLY those 16 objects in the environment, hit record-pause, hit "send selected fader values". Repeat for the other X-Playback tracks and objects. You should also check the cabling of the objects to the X-Playback channel splitters...
