systray.exe is a tool for system taskbar notifications. The taskbar
provides a location for programs and hardware devices to display
icons. For example, if your computer supports advanced power
management (APM), a Battery Meter icon can appear on the
taskbar.
When you close it last you should see your volume icon disappear.
It is best to clost it manually rather than taking it out in the
registry, otherwise you may find a future problem when you install
some software that tries to place an icon in systray. I generally
have not had a problem leaving systray open, as long as you close
all other items that are running in systray. Rather than CTRL-ALT-
DEL try single clicking or right clicking on each item and closing
them that way. I always close everything running in systray before
writing a CD but generally leave everything (I don't have a lot in
there anyway) running during Logic without problems.

Phil
