It was designed that way . The AW2 and AW8 Sound Manager drivers are for
using the cards with software that doesn't "talk" directly to the
card
rather talk thru the OS.. LogicAudio and Waveburner talk directly to the
card and therefore can't find it if it is assigned to Mac OS. Presently the
Sound Manager driver and the direct driver for Waveburner/LogicAudio aren't
multiclient (allowing several programs/OS to use the card at the same
time). You can have Logic release the card when it's in the background so
another program can use it. I don't remember if Wavewburner does as well.
