As far as matched drives are concerned, *any* RAID system performs at its best when using matched drives regardless of the number of drives involved. Also as with any RAID solution, you can use unmatched drives but the performance will suffer. IMPORTANT NOTE: It is critical to have matched drives for best performance. This means that all the physical details of the disks should be the same, not just the drive size. Number of platters, seek time, etc. An example of a nice solution with the FastTrak card is 4 drives. You can then stripe the drives in pairs and then set one pair to mirror the other for redundancy. Of course you could also stripe all 4 drives together for one really large drive. Think about it. 4 - 13gig drives (each less than $350) for a total of 52gig. All that with plenty of sustained throughput for your audio needs, even using DMA33.
