Subject: VST Freebies at Muon/CesSynth + Korg Oasys demos
Message #28168
Hi, A TB303 like freebie VST synth you might be interested in checking out available for download at: http://www.muon-software.com A vst drive plugin called the M-Drive comes with it. MP3 Demos of Muon's forthcoming Electron are up there too. Also CesSynth 5, a percussion VST synth, is at >http://www.cferrari.dial.pipex.com/ A comprehensive set of Oasys demos are up at the Korg site: http://www.korg.com/oasyspci.htm Regards, Murray

I played around with it half the day! > Also CesSynth 5, a percussion VST synth, is at > > >http://www.cferrari.dial.pipex.com/ Unfortunately this just produces one sound, no matter which buttons I tweak, no matter which preset I load. Further I wanted to add that there's a new version of the Freeverb/VST, now with predelay and independent hi/lo pass. Very great. http://www.dreampoint.co.uk And then there's the new homepage of Bram De Jong (maker of the SupaPhaser), you will now find two more free plugins there, the OnePing VST instrument (weird sounding...) and the Cyanide plugin (sorta filtering thing). http://www.smartelectronix.com/ Sascha

Thoughts from the mind of Sascha Franck, 03-06-2000: >Great stuff, that Tau plugin, a must have! >I played around with it half the day! My LA woulnd't recognise it. Is it a PC-think (I'm on a Mac)? > > Also CesSynth 5, a percussion VST synth, is at >> >> >http://www.cferrari.dial.pipex.com/ > >Unfortunately this just produces one sound, no matter which buttons I tweak, >no matter which preset I load. I've you'd read the online docs (yeah :-), you'd noticed that sound selection is accomplished by selecting a different MIDI-channel (bizarre indeed). So all notes on channel 1 produce Program 1 (snare or whatever), while notes on channel 2 produce a hi-hat, etc - up to channel 16 to play Program 16. The Program-selection in the plug-in only serves the purpose of getting the setting of that particular sound on the front-panel, so that you can tweak it. It doesn't load the sound in the conventional sense -- all soudns are always available through this MIDI-channel mechanism. The other things on that site, cesSynth 1-4, are more interesting for now. Oh, having said that: I didn't get the bass-synth to operate properly (cesSynth-4, I think). >And then there's the new homepage of Bram De Jong (maker of the SupaPhaser), >you will now find two more free plugins there, the OnePing VST instrument >(weird sounding...) and the Cyanide plugin (sorta filtering thing). >http://www.smartelectronix.com/ Uhm... wouldn't it be helpful if any mention of _platform_ was made? Just an idea... cheers, Hendrik Jan -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra ( h@... )

Well, Murray allready gave an appropriate answer for the most of them, here's what Bram de Jong (www.smartelectronix.com) writes about his plugins: - SupaPhaser: v2.0 (Mac, PC and BeOS) - OnePingOnly: Beta1 (Mac and PC) - Cyanide: v1.0 (Mac, PC and BeOS) - CrazyIvan: unreleased. August 2000. I wonder what that crazy Ivan thing will be like... > > > Also CesSynth 5, a percussion VST synth, is at > >> > >> >http://www.cferrari.dial.pipex.com/ > > > >Unfortunately this just produces one sound, no matter which buttons I tweak, > >no matter which preset I load. > > I've you'd read the online docs (yeah :-), you'd noticed that sound > selection is accomplished by selecting a different MIDI-channel > (bizarre indeed). Well, sometimes reading a bit of a documentation really helps...:-) Thanks for the tip. But anyways, sometimes this doesn't seem to work though. When I opened the synth for the very first time I was playing on MIDI Ch.1 and had the default interface opened (the one for Ch.1 "BD") and didn't notice the sound changing at all. Finally, now that I know how it works, I find that method of note selection a bit "funny". I don't have a keyboard that sends out different notes on different MIDI channels, and one certainly needs something like that to play it in realtime. I'm gonna try using a transformer, but in the past I didn't have to good experiences with VST instruments and realtime transformers. I agree with you, I also like the other cesSynths a bit more for now (well, there's just 1+2 on PCs). Sascha
