Question for you veteran users--what are your favorite techniques for doing
comp tracks of audio? Do you manually snip up each take by hand, then move
bits and pieces around, create a new track and put all the pieces together
there, or what?
Last night I tried using strip silence for the first time, but it really
didn't seem well suited for this (or maybe I just need to fiddle with the
settings more). After stripping, it's easy to hear where each new region
starts and the last one stopped. It seemed like I would then still have to
go back and look manually at each region and tweak it.
I did successfully move one bass note in an otherwise good take to make it
come in at the right time. I selected the trim points in the sample
editor, made the cuts in the arrange window, created a new track going to
the same audio channel, moved the one note onto the new track and cut the
note out of the original track. I then moved the position of the sole note
on the new track slightly forward to correct the timing, did one more minor
trim on the old track, and it came out fine.
But I wonder if there are easier ways...

Hi,
I just mix and match the good bits on one audio channel (after some 20
odd takes of vocals), even using single words of one take. Good singing
technique does help, though ;-)
Cheers,
Recky
