I think you will be amazed how many bits (of noise) you will see at the
bottom
before you judge the empty bits : make sure you calibrate the signals and
know that the signal has the proper modulation: take a sinewave record till
it clips and reduce til it is a proper sinewave again.
But I know for sure that you will be sad about the noise level ....
It is just extremely difficult and expensive to make 24 bit * 6 = wow dB
