Hi!
Yesterday a friend came over and we had some little "contest".
Was something like "let's see who's able to squeeze more out of a
single
wavefile".
I should add that he's a hardcore VST user, so of course this also turned
out to be something like VST vs. Logic contest (oh no, I'm defenitely NOT
starting another sequencer war here...).
I'm not going to tell who was "winning" as the answer (IMO) is
obvious ;o))
Anyways, if you would like to have a look what my version finally came out
like, I uploaded it (www.nosex.de/sascha/onewave.zip, 312kb)
For a bit more listening pleasure I included 2 other small wavefiles, one
bassdrum and one snaredrum sample.
Apart from those it's all made of one wavefile and it kinda uses a lot of
automation.
In the zip you'll find two versions of the same song, the one I originally
made with my AW8 (buffersetting "2") and another one for AV mode
which I
transferred using my SBLive/EWS64
You should however select the automation folder first and play the activated
cycle while adjusting the folder's delay setting, the pitch shifter's
intervals should change at every beat 1 (well, if it switches a bit earlier
or later it could result in funny things as well).
Also please note that Logic will generate a fade file when you start that
song for the first time as I haven't included them (they were almost as
large as the wavefile), you might (perhaps) need to press play and stop
twice in order to create that fade file as Logic sometimes doesn't create a
complete file at the first attempt.
Ok, please don't take the musical value of this too serious, it's absolutely
not my style of music (I'm merely a rock/pop guitar player), but maybe for
some of you it might be of interest how I use automation and Logics superior
part handling.
Oh, I nearly forgot, this was basically done in 30 minutes as this was our
"contests" timeline, I just did some small adjustments and added
those
drumwaves (didn't care about them a lot though).
Well, another last thing; this LSO used around 50-60% CPU power on my
Celeron 300A, 192MB Ram.
Ciao,
Sascha
