Subject: ProMix as a control surface
Message #3393
I use the faders on my ProMix01to control the audio faders in Logic. The ProMix is cabled directly from the MIDI input to the audio faders, bypassing the sequencer input altogether. This works fine except for when I want to record the fader information. The problem is that MIDI data seems to be generated and recorded by the virtual faders only when they are moved by the mouse and not when moved by the ProMix faders. Is there a way to make the virtual faders generate and record MIDI data when moved by the ProMix faders? One work around would be to route the ProMix faders to the sequencer input, however it is too easy to inadvertently change the wrong virtual fader, as the MIDI signal is routed to whichever instrument is selected in the arrange page regardless of the channel setting. For example, if Audio 1 is selected in the arrange page and I move ProMix fader 2 which is cabled directly to Audio 2, both Audio 1 and 2 will move even though Audio 1 is set to respond to MIDI channel 1. The sequencer input seems to ignore MIDI channel settings, is there a way around this? Thanks for any help, Tom
