I feel 'at home' (aka it is in my core range) with a freq of 35Hz (cis
below the A-String of a bass) and I still can hear frequencies even below
that (not just some harmonics).
Don't know about 16Hz but I'd argue for something like 25Hz.
While we are at it:
the average Bass singer can produce frequencies of about 75Hz (between
d and dis above Bass A-String). The good ones go down to even below 60Hz
(H/B above Bass A-String). So be careful with your lowcutfilter when
recording a deepsounding male singer with a deepsounding voice ;-)

If you want to do that type of thing (be it for low or high frequencies)
you might want to apply spectral analysis before doing so.
That way you'll see wether these freqs actually chew up headroom. No
need to bother if they don't.
