Subject: Re: LAWP ver 4.04 CPU Disk Too Slow Errors DON't BLAME THE VICTIMS!!
Message #3162
Dear LUG Friends, while I think it's nice folks to offer opinions about how to get rid of the cpu error, THE PROBLEM IS IN LOGIC 4.04 and not a problem fundamental to a person's configuration. The configuration info that Anssi is trying to refute has been verified (by scores of users using other DAW programs) as effective (cubase samplitude cakewalk). To say they are not needed is WRONG. You may be able to get away with not doing them, but when you get a random glitch when doing an important project you will wish you had turned off double buffering or set virtual memory yourself. There are a number of sources for tweaking ones computer and certain video cards that are considered well-behaved (the Matrox G400 is one of them). After applying due diligence, YOU WILL PROBABLY STILL GET THE CPU TOO SLOW MESSAGE UNLESS YOU ARE LUCKY BECAUSE THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN LOGIC!!!!!! I'm finding it infuriating that I have not read any Emagic person admitting that they have a problem that they need to work feverishly on to fix. Maybe I missed the post, but I do know Emagic's reputation is eroding everyday the problems with LAWP 4.04 persist and are not fixed. Wheww! I feel a little better now.
