<There is more chance that when BeOS matures, we will all be running 1Ghz+ machines that does 128+ tracks of audio on some 15,000 rpm drives, perhaps on Windows 200X.< Hi folks, lets face it like it is !! BeOs will be supported very soon by a lot of Editors in Music business .(more than 30) They're not going to support an OS just for fun , I think they believe this OS will work great on PC based machines. I personnally can't wait to see the new BeOS R 5. Multitrack will soon be availlable I think, and for our music dependent Programs, it will be a killer I think. I'm going to get BeOS just for the music applications (95% of my daytime), and for the internet thing and all those "tools" we use, win 98 will just do fine ( 5 % of my day time). Don't be this pecicimistic, I think this will be finally an OS that is equal to performance !!!! I've been testing Win 2000 for about 4 weeks now, and I can tell you that it is really too slow !!!! Ok it's stable, but it's about 30 % less faster than Win NT 4 I'm using for about one and a half year now. Windows needs 600M on your harddisk drive, and isn't fast enough .... and by the way I prefer an OS like BeOS that doesn't support all the material out there (this is why win 2000 is so slow now), ... just the material we need to work without problems and....STABILITY !!!!! .... and about that Microsoft EGO ????? It's just $£$$ÂÂ&Acir c;¤Ãƒâ€šÃ‚¤Ã‚&Atild e;‚¤* to me, they don't even think about music , all that matters is $$$$$$ for Microsoft . At less , BEOS takes care about Music (hey, aren't we musicians ???) So I think it depends on us to get this OS to be used as an OS for musicians !!!! I will get mine (as soon R5 will comme out.) regards, Hans
