Hey all,
here's my first post! I'm using NI Kore 2 with Logic pro 7 (haven't made the
jump to 8 yet). Kore uses USB to communicate with the DAW. Logic sees all
the movements I'm making and it's all mirroring onscreen and in the mix, but
when I put the automation into any of the writing modes (touch, latch, etc)
Logic refuses to write the automation to the track.
I've attempted this is while recording a new part, while playing back, armed
to record, not armed. With my command 8 control surface in standalone mode,
logic writes volume info flawlessly, but with the Kore 2 controller, it
simply refuses. I am having the exact same project with my NI Rig control 2
device as well. I'm stumped.
Here's what i've tried:
-plugging the USB directly into the computer port (instead of an extensions
splitter)
-loading the latest drivers
-working with just one track to see if it's a resource issue
I've been back and forth and once in a great while it actually works! but
this is super-rare and seems to be more troubling than helpful to me.
Does anyone know anything about these devices? could it be a USB issue,
Logic issue or NI issue? It feels like a Logic problem to me since
everything is working flawlessly except the actual writing of the automation
data to the track.
Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks,
-Jeff

It sounds like Logic isn't seeing the Kore control but I admittedly
know nothing about it. However, you might want to check this out and
see if it doesn't do the trick for you.

I have the original Kore which I stopped using for a number of
annoying reasons, but from what I recall, Kore likes to do it's
automation in the midi realm. i.e. you have to activate a control and
assign it to a midi controller. Then you print the midi controller
data. Don't know whether Kore 2 has implemented Logic's automation
functions or not, but from what you're experiencing, probably not.

I don't think that's the issue. I know the Kore controller is communicating
with Logic, it's just Logic isn't writing the automation to the track.
Moving the knobs i can see the same motions on screen in the plug in window
within logic.
thanks though... any other ideas?
The Kore 2 controller is supposed to be communicating through MIDI.. it did
work, once, so that's what's so frustrating with this situation. If I had to
arm each knob and write them one at a time, it would defeat the purpose of
the controller being so responsive.
Do you think Logic 8 would fix the problem? is writing MIDI automation a
more logical function in 8??
