Subject: [LUG] Soundfonts users out there???
Message #236611
Hi folks, Do any of you import Soundfonts into the logic sampler? Are they worth the effort to get good sounding samples inexpensively (i.e. free)?? I'e read the manual and placed the file(s) into the correct directories, etc. I get the files to show up in the patch menu but they don't open. I'm suspecting that there needs to be some kind of "conversion" or whatever done to them first. Any thoughts? Thanks! Tom

This is appears to be a new bug. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Tom, > Do any of you import Soundfonts into the logic sampler? Are they worth > the effort to get good sounding samples inexpensively (i.e. free)?? It's kind of a crap shoot: some are very good; many are not (by today's standards). > I'e read the manual and placed the file(s) into the correct directories, etc. > I get the files to show up in the patch menu but they don't open. > I'm suspecting that there needs to be some kind of "conversion" or > whatever done to them first. Just last night I auditioned a handful in Logic 8 (Express). After unzipping them, I dropped the .sf2s into the USERs folder at ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments/ After restart, the samples showed up in /Logic/SoundFont Samples (all were WAVs); the .bk's and .exs's remained in various folders in /Logic/Sampler Instruments/ They all showed up in the menu and played. I'm usually happy if I get sounds better than the ones I've got. Half the time I distort/stretch them incognito anyway!
