Subject: How to MIDI sync Logic and an external synth?
Message #235498
Can anybody tell me how to MIDI sync Logic and an external synth? Here's the scenario, Logic is MIDI sequencing the external synth and also playing some audio tracks. I'm monitoring the computer and the synth into two separate channels of a hardware mixer. The problem is that the sound coming out of the mixer has the synthesizer sound slightly ahead of Logic because of computer audio latency. I know that I can manually add MIDI latency to the MIDI tracks and match the latency of the audio tracks. The problem is what value should I use? I know I can try to guess it by ear but I want this thing to be tight. Somehow Logic knows what this value is because if I monitor the synth within Logic with the external instrument plugin everything sounds real tight. If I only knew the latency value the plugin is using... Any ideas out there??? Thanks
