I use Norton Ghost backup if I want to do a complete restore. Hope this helps!

Myt music computer is still on Win2k and works wonderfully well with Logic 5.5 - so I never upgraded it, changed it, installed anything else on it, use it on the internet etc. A second computer is so cheap these days I don't consider it worth the risk to screw with an existing 'working' system. Never had any problem with SP2 and Logic 5.5.1, I turned everything but the Firewall off. SP2 takes a bit more RAM and slows the PC down just a fraction but it's a very solid working environment. HW

The solution is to re-format your computer completely using the original pre-SP2 XP disk - thereby putting the computer back to how it was. If you do this and find your music stuff works fine then LEAVE IT ALONE and by another computer for all your other work...

That may be "a" solution.. but I've never found it necessary to go to such extremes and Logic 5.5.1 was/is solid as a rock here. I'm running an original WinXP installation that has to be four years old, it's been upgraded from SP1 to SP2 and migrated through at least one full hardware upgrade. All it takes is some common sense, don't install a bunch of cr@p, get rid of the eye candy... run a clean system keeping background processes at a minimum, works for OSX too. Logic windows does not like to see more than 1GB RAM available, but there are workarounds. HW
