Hi All,
I know that neither Presonus' Faderport or Frontier Design's
AlphaTrack are natively supported in Logic, but I'm working on a
project in Logic and ProTools and need a fader controller pronto.
The AlphaTrack has more features and quieter buttons. Are there any
strong opinions about either of them? I've read the LUG archives and
shall take the plunge early this week.
I'm hoping that Logic 8 will support both of these natively. When oh
when.......
Thanks,

They are both supported because both run the HUI protocol. Frontier
Designs hopes that it will soon be natively supported by Logic. Their
Tranzport is already supported and Final Cut Pro is already on their
software list. I would say the chances for native support are good.
It is basically a question of technics and features. If you want more
features, then you want the Alphatrack. If you rely rather on
technology you might go for the Faderport because it has an ALPS
fader with a separate power supply. That makes of course sense for a
quick motorfader.
I didn't want one of these devices but finally got a Faderport just
for fader riding. Yes, the fader is very good and the buttons are a
bit loud.

Hi Judith,
I went for the Faderport and really like it, but haven't tried the
AlphaTrack.
Cheers
