Anyone suggestions on plug-ins that beat Logic's own for mastering? I have been sending my final mixes to a mastering pro (Don Grossinger - great work, price, and credits) I can't even get close to the levels he can get so I was wondering if waves or metric halo or _______ would really get the job done. Of course I know mastering is more than just getting a hotter level but it amazes me that the pro can get that much more level than I can get with Logic or Waveburner. Any comparisons experience would be greatly > appreciated! If level hotness is what you're after, a combination of Logic's Limiter and AdLimiter works great. Put them in that order, then gain up the limiter until just before the pumping starts to become annoying, and then gain up the AdLimiter until just before the sound coloration becomes annoying. You'll then have it louder than any mastering engineer would *want* it to be. ;o) The quality of other mastering plugins and professional mastering engineers is not so much in the loudness of the work they produce.
