HI all. If I've recorded a midi part at 60bpm and then I change the
tempo of the song to 120, the midi part will play back at double
speed. Is there some way to "stretch" the midi part so that it
plays
back at the same "timing"?
thanks, Ian

Hi Ian,
Hold down the alt key while using the mouse to extend (or reduce) the length
of the region.
In order to halve the speed of the midi, double its length. vice-versa for
contracting regions
(halve the length, double the speed etc..)

Yes, timestretch all MIDI regions by half. The way to do it is to select
them and use the mouse pointer to grab one lower start or endpoint of one
region and drag it with the modifier key held down (ctrl, alt or cmnd...
can't remember which one. Easy to find out though)

If you drag the right corner of the MIDI region wile
holding OPTION, then you time expand/compress it.
In your case, hold down OPTION and make the region
twice as long.

The method to timestretch MIDI parts has already been explained, but, when
you change the tempo of a song and want all of your MIDI parts to be the
same at the new tempo, while even keeping their relations intact, SMPTE lock
is the way to go. You just select everything, select "Lock SMPTE
position",
change the tempo to your likings and then unlock the parts.
This is especially handy if you already have a lot of parts.
