Subject: [LUG] interface/control surface
Message #228049
So i'm looking to get an interface and control surface for use with logic. I contemplated getting a digi 003, but i'm not sure. Does anyone have any advice as to how I should go? Maybe a command 8 or mackie control and a 003 rack? I would like the protools capability, but want full control of logic with a control surface. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Well, the command 8 won't work with Logic, and the Digi core audio drivers are pretty poor. > I would like the protools capability, > but want full control of logic with a control surface. If you really need Pro Tools on the same machine, check M-Audio stuff (far from being the best in sound quality, but still won't screw up your system as bad as Digi driver will). If you go with M-Audio you have to buy Pro Tools software ($270). Also, No Digi control surface will work with Logic, so Mackie control Universal is your best choice IMO. Best, Andy

On a second thought... in your situation I would buy a decent non-Digi interface like Ensemble or MIO and the cheepest MBox as a dongle to Pro Tools software in case you need to deliver your songs as Pro Tools sessions. Just thinking out loud... Best, Andy

For the best Logic audio interface performance avoid Digidesign branded interfaces all together as their Core Audio drivers are poor compared to almost everybody else. It's been speculated that they do this on purpose. Regards :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Paul Najar Jaminajar Music Production www.jaminajar.com

Digidesign branded controllers only work with ProTools, so get a Mackie Control and 003Rack if you also want to use Logic. f-erenc szabo, smarty pants Z+E+R+O+B+E+A+T "NOW POWERED BY THE MIRACLE OF THE TRANSISTOR!" <http://home.goodmedia.com/~zerobeat>
