Subject: Logic Audio 4.1.2 released - with Digi001 support!
Message #12073
Update Info Logic Audio Platinum/Gold/Silver Please note: Some of the improvements described below may not apply to your particular program of the Logic series. 4.1.2 Digidesign Digi001 (Mac only) Emagic has optimized its support of Direct I/O for the Digi001. Please note: to make use of the Digi001 support, DigiSystem INIT 5.0 is required. + There is an individual Environment object for the MIDI out port of the Digi001. In order to create this object, please choose New > Internal > Digi001 MIDI. Any data coming in via the MIDI In of the Digi001 is automatically recognized. You may also use the MIDI ports of the Digi001 via OMS. In the case of MicroLogic you must use OMS, as MicroLogic does not have an environment. + Logic Audio Platinum allows you to run up to 64 tracks via the Digi001 depending on the performance of your computer and your hard-drives. Logic Audio Gold offers up to 32 tracks, Silver up to 24 and MicroLogic AV up to 16. + When using Logic Audio Platinum and Gold, all inputs and outputs of the Digi001 can be addressed. Logic Audio Silver is capable of addressing a maximum of eight outputs and two inputs, according to its specifications. MicroLogic AV is limited to two inputs and two outputs. + It is possible to use Split Stereo files, Interleaved and, of course, Mono files, all simultaneously. + Logic's Audio Engine allows the simultaneous playback of 16 and 24 bit files. + In Logic you can utilize the internal effects, external Plug-Ins in VST1 and VST2 format and virtual instruments like the Emagic ES1 for playback via the Digi001. General remarks on Digidesign Direct I/O (Mac only) +With DigiSystem INIT(TM) 5.0 you can set the I/O buffer size to ".125", which reduces the latency for the input monitoring and for real-time playing of virtual instruments. The downside of this is that the CPU load is increased so it may not be possible to play back as many audio tracks as with larger buffer sizes. Hint: for the Audiomedia III card "0.5" is still the smallest possible value for the I/O buffer size. +Under "Audio > Audio Preferences > Direct I/OÓ you will now find the button "Hardware Setup". The Hardware Setup allows you to set the different parameters of the different Digidesign cards, such as clock source, input gain etc. The global key command "Audio Hardware Setup" opens the same window without the need to click through the menu. + DigiSystem (TM) INIT 5.0 cannot be used with older DAE-Versions; so if you also address your Digidesign Hardware via DAE, please keep the corresponding DigiSystem INIT. + Recording problem solved for AMIII. ES1 + The response time after editing MIDI sequences addressing the ES1 has been decreased even further. Rewire + Under Rewire the timing and the latency of the virtual sound modules Retro AS-1 and Unity DS-1 have been improved. The CPU load is now slightly higher (Mac only). VST2.0 + The keyboard of the virtual sound module Pro-Five by Native Instruments can now be opened and closed. + The response time after editing MIDI sequences addressing a VST 2.0 virtual sound module has been decreased even further. General Improvements + When bouncing, the playback is audible again (Windows only). +In the Audio > Audio Preferences page, the Recording File Type can now be easily chosen. SDII is the default and the other choices are AIFF and WAV (the latter one not for DAE/TDM or CBX). (Mac only) + Changing the source tempo in the Time Machine does not affect the song tempo anymore. When opening the Time Machine, the source tempo will be automatically set to the song tempo. + The Key Commands Window offers the following new Key Commands in the section "Various sequence editors": € "Note Overlap Correction (selected/selected)" € "Note Force Legato (selected/selected)" € "Note Overlap Correction for repeated notes".
