This isn't really a Logic question, but I think it affects enough of us
Logic users to still be valid. Forgive me if I'm mistaken.
I was excited about the upcoming UAD Xpander until I thought through the
actual configuration. Most people have their external firwire drives and
firwire audio interface on separate busses, right? As far as I understand
this is the best idea when using both. However, that means using a firwire
card which of course goes in the PCIexpress slot. So, then there's no place
for the UAD Xpander.
Does anyone have any ideas to get all of these things connected? I
considered just using the internal sound when using the UAD but that's not a
very good solution because at that point I'm mixing and I need to hear the
best sound I can.
I hope there's a way to get this going because I love my UAD plugins and it
would be great to have them while on the road, not just at home.

Why not get a second hand Magma chassis? I have one that I use for my
PC laptop (Cardbus) and G5 (PCI) and will be getting an express 3/4
card to use it with my MBP.
Then you can use a PCI based audio card as well, and much better
option than a FW audio interface.
Take care, George Leger III

Yeah, I think you may be right George. I was hoping for a smaller solution,
but this may have to be what it ends up being.
