[LUG] LE Doesn't see INternal MIC input MacBook w/7.2.3

I'm doing dummy recordings to try to learn track assignment with  
internal mic
of macbook.

Control panel settings are set to mic in and Garageband audio tracks  
receive signal from the mic OK

But I quit gaeageband when I start LE and arm "rec" button, in an 

audio track no signal shows in fader. Audio is set to core audio,

Don't know what I'm missing.
