I am a Logic User since version 3.0 . Love the program .
I did with a couple of engineers tests on Logic and Pro Tools in a
professional studio and would like to suggest a couple of improvements for
the next Logic or Update . Instead of adding a bunch of new features to work
on this :
Logic 5.1 - Pro Tools is light years ahead on Surround mixing , allowing 5.1
Plug ins , Routing and inserts . Logic only place audios on a surround
spectrum but you cant treat them as a group.
Automation - Pro Tools engineers really miss the Trim function , i dont know
how to do it in Logic .
Internal Routing
CoreAudio X DAE - It seems to me (although i didnt test it properly) , that
the DAE audio through Logic sounded a bit fuller that CoreAudio using the
Apooges) .
And Mac Intels Logic , DTDM , DAE compability .
Logic Pro 7.2.3
Mac Pro (desktop) And G 5 Quad
Apogee AD 16 X and 16 DA X
Pro Tools HD CArd

Many suggestions like these have been posted to this list and then
after each following release people complain that "Apple never listens
to us".. so I'll just suggest like I do each time to post your
suggestions (also) to the Logic Feedback site (linked to directly from
the "Send feedback about Logic" menu option.
New features are interesting to talk about here, but I can guarantee
you that Apple is not checking this list to find out what people want.
Just to avoid disappointments :o)

Logic was working perfectly fine yesterday but today it doesn't.
Can somebody please tell me how to fix it?

Did you click (ONCE!) the Logic Pro icon in the dock?
If you did and it's still not working, it might be broken and you may need
to get a new one,
sorry.

Did you probably activate the calendar option?
Then Logic converts beats to days and runs very slow.

It probably switched to Foole Safe mode, this will be fixed in

Despite this and with several hundred gig available, I still only get
72 minutes of recording time!

You might want also to re-install your Mac. Take the original package
that your Mac came in and pack it in and seal it. The re-open it and
put the Mac back into the studio.
That ought to do it.

I did activate the calendar option, and just discovered
a fix. It turns out that old songs that were set to, say,
130 beats per minute become 130 beats per day. Logic
doesn't do the correct translation. The solution was to
multiply the tempo by 1440 to effectively get the same
"feel" as before.

At first I thought this was a joke, but it turns out to
be the solution. All I had to do was duct tape the mouse
cable so it wouldn't yank out of the USB port.

Love this thread!
Back in 97 or 98 I was helping a mate with his new Mac (I had been trying to
talk him into buying a Mac instead of a Wintel machine for 6 or 8 months
before he finally did it and he keeps thanking me for doing that every time
he meets me :-) ). On that day we bought the machine and went to his place
(45 miles away from mine). Since that was his first computer ever, I spent
all day there installing OS, Logic, plugs, setting up his equipment (he had
some quite ambitious plans at the time and bought quite a lot of gear I had
to set up). Of course I came back home very late at night and 10 minutes
later got a call from him... -The damn thing doesn't work!!!,- he said.-What
in the world did you do? -Oh, nothing really, I just removed some
unnecessary crap you installed, I only need Logic and plugs, nothing more
than that, so I removed everything else to free up some disk space -- there
was a strange thing called System folder... He did it 3 more times before I
was able to explain what this folder was for...
Best,
Andy

all worked perfectly.

Ok, but I heard that the next Logic will only run
on the future AMD microprocessor machines.
And I also heard that it's the old never-released
Notator Audio [for Atari] that has been tweaked
for OS 10.5.

Wait a minute here...
I thought Logic X was about to be released (in the next few
milliseconds). I thought that Apple was going to release a windows
Vista 64 bit version now that a Mac can run Vista. We all know how
much faster PC's are, right...
I suppose one could run the latest Atari version on Gemulator for the
mac, right. Just make sure you only run it with a couple of meg...
and forget using soft samplers...

Perhaps you need to install the updated version of
"Percussive Maintenance"
Now instead of hitting the monitor on the top,
you need to hit the top twice, the sides 3 times, 3 "God Dammit's"
in
a row, 2 "Piece of shit" very loudly, and then
click again.
Continue until you've run out of swear words (in any language, and
I'm sure this list will help you with the Lingo-vulgarities)
Once there, go back to the trusty Alesis MMT-8 Sequencer and Life is
good.
Good Luck

Finally someone realizes how great Notator was!! I lost the power
supply for my Atari and have missed it so much. Thanks Apple!

You don't fix it - your Logic has now expired, for ever. You are
expected to purchase Garage Band Pro. This is Apples solution to
fixing ALL of Logics bugs at once!

This is a common misconception. Logic is moving to a new paradigm
based on the highly successful WUP program offered by Waves. Logic
will offer the LUMP (Logic Utilization Management Protocol) using a
new Dongle.
The dongle looks remarkably like a parking meter and occupies a small
amount of square footage (I am hearing it shouldn't be more than 1.5 X
1.5 meters squared). Logic will not run until you enter coins. The
nominal currency will be the Nepalese Rupee and 15 minutes of use
shall require 100 Rupees, which at 90 rupees per dollar is a fairly
modest fee for the professional.
The implementation is being delayed because Logic engineers are having
troubles figuring out how to cram money through a wireless internet
connection.

Astonishing.
I always thought you'd need at least some C37 laquer.
Or, even better, a whole bunch of the knobs with said laquer pre-applied.
http://www.referenceaudiomods.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Pro
duct_Code=NOB_C37_C
I'm afraid that without at least a pair of these, Logic will never work
reliably again for you.

Oh I loved my MMT8. I had two actually, cause one really really really gave

For me I really wish logic would handle region automation and track
automation nicely - it would be a great way to adjust the volume of the
clicp to fix problems then automate the track as a whole with track
automation - this seems like an easy fix and would be very usefull - like
live clip envelopes or dp's clip trim features.

"Sample accurate editing"... Will it be available in an equivalent
of
Logic's arrange window? Also, "Audio Effects and Audio Units plug-ins
can be
applied to supported audio files as Actions"... Does this mean we will
be
able to use Aus in the same manner as AudioSuite plugs in Pro Tools or Logic
TDM? Damn, I want my 7.3 upgrade, and I want it now :-) !!!
