Been thinking about Vista myself but something told me I'd be
painting a great big target on my rear-end for the devil to aim at...
Assuming by "lost" you mean Logic doesn't work in Vista,
you're not running the 64 Bit version of Vista are you? Are all
your drivers Vista compatible and can you run other audio software
okay?
What exactly happens when you try to launch Logic?
If there's a 'Compatibility Wizard' in Vista like there is in
XP (to run programs that were written specifically for an earlier
version of Windows) you could try that.
Logic on Windows only just made it into the XP era. I'd set up
a dual boot configuration if I were you and stick XP and
Logic back on - 'If it ain't broke etc.,' - then you'd still
be able to run Vista. Make sure you have a partition
(or another drive) visible to both operating systems so you
can share files between them.

That seems nuts to me. I like to mix to two tracks via bus and if I
want to go back and do it again and compare to the mix that I already
have, being able to monitor input is extremely valuable. If it says
input, I want "input" and not "what's on the track unless I
am
recording" (not quoting you, just trying to be clearer). That should
be a different function called auto-input. To get around this, should
I just create a new track to record to and go back and forth to it
and the original track to compare?
Am I understanding this wrong?

You will definitely need at least one more drive. I made a mistake and
bought a 750 GB drive (actually 3 of them -- one for OS, other for
samples and the other for backups) and they are slow as hell. Get a
500 GB one for OS and (possibly) another one for samples, use the one
supplied with the machine for recording as it will be the fastest in
the setup.

Get at least 2 more gigs just for a start. I have 3 in mine and I am

Hi folks,
Anyone managed to get an M-Audio Ozone working with L8 and an intel Mac?
I've switched over from iBook G4 (where it worked perfectly) to
Macbook Intel and my M-Audio Ozone interface is no longer recognised.
I installed the driver that came with the unit and Logic could process
audio but not MIDI.
I tried to access the driver in system prefs and got the message 'does
not work on Intel', so I went to the M-audio site and downloaded what
was supposed to be the Intel Mac update.
Upon first installation and restart it also recognises audio but not
MIDI.
Any subsequent reboot results in it not working at all.
System prefs tells me the unit is not connected.
I've reverted to the PPC driver for now so I can at least record audio.
I contacted M-audio tech support the other day but don't expect to
hear back from them any time soon.
Any ideas?
thanks andrew
i had a look and firewire is not set as an option.. i even added it and then
removed it to be sure.
i think the next step is to contact tech support for m-audio and see if they
can suggest anything.
thanks again.

Is it possible to view Automation information as a List, such as with

but system crashes and blows out my ears unless I restart Mbox. turn off

I've experienced this before pre-Logic. Is there a fix for this, or do I
need to dump everything Digi or go with Digi Core Audio stand alone?
I had the same problem for months and had given up hope unitl this morning.
There are two firewire inputs behind the 410. I simply switched the cable to
the left input and my computer immediately started recognizing the device
and updating firmware.
I hope this will help you.
Hello everyone,
I finally got my computer to recognize M-Audio's 410. I have a couple
questions:
1) I can no longer control the volume from my keyboard. It was nice leaving
my amplifier at a relatively high level and adjusting volume with keyboard.
Is this ability lost with the 410?
2) Is it normal for the blue LED light to blink when the 410 is off?
Thanks.

Yes. But it is a bit "hidden", due to it has no menu item. You
have
to look for it in the key commands, there you can assign an own
command (Version 7.2.3).

I am having a very difficult time with recurrent crashes on my TDM
setup. I have been using Logic 7 with DTDM with no problems.
After upgrading to 8, I had a day of the same. Then I upgraded to
8.0.1. At that point, starting up the app gets a "quit
unexpectedly"
message right when the screen gets to the DTDM message.
I can boot up without audio drivers just fine, and I can boot up with
TDM on, just fine. Just not DTDM. And I can't use Core Audio right
now, as I don't have an interface to send it back into PT. But Core
Audio seems to crash the computer the same way, if I enable it.
Here is what I have done:
1) I have confirmed the crash happens on a test account, in the same
way.
2) I have checked the startup drive with Disk warrior. Only minor
problems found.
3) Reinstalled 8.0.0 from DVD, after trashing all receipts.
4) Reinstalled DTDM driver separately. This got Logic to boot up with
TDM and DTDM enabled...ONCE. I could not replicate this. On the next
bootup I got "quit unexpectedly" again.
5) Trashed any preference I could think of with even a peripheral
connection to the issue. But again, since the test account crashes as
well, that rules out my account.
I have called Apple support twice. They were really of no help. Does
anyone have any thoughts? I have spent the entire day with this, and
am really out of ideas.
And one last thought...PT 7.4 boots up just fine and works just fine,
so I assume I'm not having a hardware issue. My only possibility now
is that I should downgrade my OS to 10.4.9, as I've seen anecdotal
reports of this being the key.
Thanks in advance for any and all thoughts.

I am having a midi interupt problem that crops up occansionally with
windows XP, using dell 6000 inspiron. Seemingly for no reason in the
middle of a song, the midi output will be interupted and all notes will
hang over until reset. Have tried using different enviroments. It
happens whether there is one song in memory or many songs in memory.
Have used two different midi interfaces, emagic mt4, and also an edirol
interface. If anyone out there has similar problems please contact me.
Problem doesn't occur all the time, but is more of an inconvience;
especially when using logic live. If someone could reach me regarding
this message, please call me at your convenience, @ 484-620-1122, thank
you for time in this matter.
Does anyone have any 'inside' information on when
Waves will start supporting Leopard? I am still stuck
with one machine with Leopard and Logic 8 which
is unusable in our environment because of the heavy use
of the Waves L3.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks, Dennis. That's the kind of information I hoped would come out.
I wasn't able to find that information in the manual
myself--searching for the wrong term, probably.
I've gone ahead and made the change, but I encourage you to edit
directly in the future. Anyone can edit those entries.
Thanks for the information.

Hi,
Please help!
I have Logic 6.4.3. I have a project I have setup.
On one track, I have my synth (a JP6 europa) with patch change enabled.
It changes patches just fine, but it has somehow started getting an unwanted
patch change that is extremely annoying since it is an empty track I am
trying
to record.
So I set Patch "8" with Logic stopped and in the -4 before the
track
starts. As soon as I start Logic, this track changed from patch
"8"
to patch "36", a completely different patch.
I do not seem to be able to change this in the event list.
I seem to recall there was a way to stop this, but I cannot remember how.
Can someone please tell me how to resolve this extremely frustrating
and creativity destroying
problem before I run screaming into the night? I just
wanna play patch 8 on my Europa and when I hit the start button,
it plays patch 8, not patch 36.

Spotted another little inconsistency: You have indicated "no" for
"automatically create new bus at first use". In Logic 8, a new aux
with the bus set as the input is automatically created when assigning
a send to a bus for the first time.

Just got this from M-audio tech support :
"At present we do not certify the use of Mac OS 10.5
with this product however please keep checking our
www.m-audio.com website for updates on this situation"
Ach well...... new audio MIDI i/f looks a neccessity
now.

Yes you can use the Kaoss pad to effect songs in Logic : )
You want to set up a 'Bus' in Logic and plug the inputs and outputs
of your Kaoss pad into an input and output on the Delta and simply
assign the input and output of the Bus to the corresponding ins and
outs your Kaoss plugs into. (this is a lot easier to *do* than to
explain via a user group)
Now when you send signal to that bus the Kaoss Pad will effect it and
return the effected signal to Logic.
I hope this was clear- if i was there I could do it in like 2 minutes...
Much props on using your Kaoss pad in such a unique way : )
Happy New Year!

Isn't there anything in Logic 8 that can do the trick? L3 is great
but Logic has so *many* great tools- the Multipressor is as good as
anything I've heard elsewhere- I grab for Logic's effects as much as
I grab for Waves...

Hi Rachel,
Its been a while since I've used Logic 6, but here it goes from memory.
How are you changing the program? If its from logic are you using the
program selector in
the parameters (on the left in the arrange.) Is the program check-box
checked? If you are
changing it on the Roland, then it sounds like the Logic parameter is
overwriting it. There
are a couple of song-based parameters in the preferences as well,
determining when to
send out program changes (i.e. at play/reset, etc.) These tie into the
program check-box,
(if its checked, logic assumes control.)
Hope this helps, Mike
