Ah... so the question is also partially, does OS 10.4.10 affect USB
audio... ouch. Not fun. I was wondering if it was a Logic 8 thing
because it seems a firewire audio interface is the recommended way to
go. I am not sure if that was part of the recommendation for Logic 7 or
6. Hmm....
Thanks though. That'll help in the digging...

In 48 years of living on earth I have never used a tampon but I have
never thought of tampons as "esoteric requirements".
Anyway separately processing the sides of a stereo file is something
I am wanting to do *all* the time so it does not look too esoteric to
me.
An example of when I want to do it: A guy I record *all* the time
likes to record both the internal pickups of his acoustic guitar and
a live mic.
We use totally different processing on either side of the guitar some
times we even go for a full on distorted electric sound on line side
and an nice sweet acoustic sound on the mic side. I accomplish this
now by keeping them in mono files on separate tracks but it would be
really nice if they could be together as a stereo file so that when I
am doing a lot of editing of the guitar track the two sides stay
locked together without me having to consciously attend to keeping
them together all the time.

This is another example that applies over here as well.

That is reasonable work around but then you still have to keep
messing around to make sure that both files get edited the same.
Is it possible to DL a demo of speaker phone.
Maybe one with just a few of the speakers. I am primarily interested
in the guitar speaker simulations.

Using Motormix and Logic 6, I can mute/solo Audio tracks and Instrument
tracks,
So does anyone know why I can't mute or solo midi tracks? Or is there a top
secret button that I'm missing?

On the Speakerphone website, it is written:
"At this moment there's no demo for Speakerphone, please check this
page for audio and
video demos."
So the answer is not yet, but the sentence implies that they understand the
need for a demo.

Hi,
Paul wrote:

Dennis mostly answered this, but at risk of adding too much detail, here's a
bit more: I also make composites in order to create the original bed
track(s), not just later for dubs. Characteristically between three and six
performances of the song (vocal+guitar), each take done free with no
metronome; all in one session so all mic and level and other context
variables are the same. And the timings are all over the map (within reason;
the main variance is that I tend to speed up slowly over the sequence of
takes).
So, while building the composite from these takes, the transitions of vocal
and guitar *both* have to match well between the composite chunks; and also
I have to do a fair amount of stretching or squashing of sections to get the
timings to be acceptable. So I find it's easier to be moving around single
stereo regions and cutting and pasting and comparing and listening to them,
than pairs of mono regions (which are easy to accidentally get out of sync,
and which make a stack of 10 regions on my screen versus 5 stereo regions
when I'm comparing 5 takes; 10 regions is too many for my short-term memory
to keep track of; 5 I can handle, sometimes. :-) ).
Later when that's all done, as I was saying in the earlier post, I copy the
resulting composite master onto 2 different tracks and use different effects
etc. for further tracking and mixing. I suppose I could actually split them
at that point, but occasionally I need to go back and revise a section, and
so it seems easier to have the same system in place right through the
process so I can do that sort of edit without having to change the file
format.
I'm not saying this is the best way to approach this problem. But when I
started doing this about 12 years ago, I was just barely on the Internet,
didn't know what a mailing list was, and didn't have a nice group of
knowledgeable people to ask, so I just more or less fumbled along, finding
things that seemed to work and abandoning things that seemed to didn't.

Hmm.
Well I guess that is a bit of a problem for the purposes of this
group buy unless they are planning to address the issue within next
week or so innit?

Same here as well as other settings on the piano roll page. I like snap to
format. The saved template reverts back to snap to smart on re-open. I
like the tool that activates with the command key to be the velocity tool.
It always reverts back to zoom or pencil tool (or whatever). A very useful
page, I love it but I do have to go in and reset all my defaults every time
I start Logic.

hi does the speakerphone purchase allow a license that you can use on either
pc or mac?
thanks
rsp
I have a trouble that when I record my voice in Logic 8. If i have an
effect on the voice track
it seems like what I am hearing back is not in the same time as when I
sing, that way i have a hard time matching them to the beat when I am
recording.
I can turn of the realtime recording monitor, but I really like to hear
back the quailty or volumn to make sure it is right.
Can anyone hellp me?

Yes---but a single authorization only. Best method for cross-platform
use would be to authorize via iLok, which can then be moved freely
between any number of computers.

Dennis, if it is a help, along with the Demo Video (which IMO
explains speakerphone very well) you can D/L the 67 page manual here:
http://www.audioease.com/Pages/Speakerphone/speakerphone_manual.pdf
kind regards

Thanks to tell the truth I am impressed with the videos and demos,
but when it comes to guitar stuff (which is what I would be buying
this for) I just never trust anything period until I play through it
myself. I can just never tell any other way.

To me the sentence also implies that there isn't going to be a demo
version at all, just more demo recordings and videos. (But there are
some already there).

Sounds like you're having a quite high buffersize selected in your audio
driver settings.
Low (or even extremely low) buffer sizes, resulting in low latency, are
crucial for any kind of recordings done via software monitoring.
Try to lower the buffersize to the smallest amount possible without running
into crackles or such, then have a try whether the problem goes away.

does the kurzweill transmit active sensing?
if so, you could try switching it off on the kbd if there's a switch,
or filter it at the logic end?

The fabulous Dr device plug-in has got a x-y control pad on its GUI that
looks like the kaoss pad. dragging the mouse sets "x" and
"y", mouseclick
down/up sets the "z" parameter.
Assignment of left x and left y was no problem, i just moved my finger on
the kaoss pad and midi learn worked. But z destination is more difficult,
apparently - nothing happens at all...
How should I set the controller assignment in logic? On the controller
assignment window I set "value change" by typing "BD 5C
Lo7", below it says
"Control Change Ch 14, 92, Lo7". This seems to be correct, touch
on/off is
CC92 on channel 14 - but it doesn't work...
"Value" is:
min/max = 0/127
Format = unsigned
Multiply = 1
Modus = switch (or toggle? I don't know the correct English translation for
all this, just guessing)

Actually, any general advice for this would be really helpful -
Sculpture also features an x-y area, so it'd be great to learn how you
can control these with a Kaoss Pad / PadKontrol etc.
It's great to see a Group Buy from Audioease. I've looked at Rocket Science
before but I've
always thought it was too expensive. I'll be picking it up now for sure.
Along those lines, I would really love to see AltiVerb in the group buy.
I've always wanted it,
but thought it is a bit too expensive to stomach with Space Designer
included in Logic. Is
there any chance of them adding AltiVerb to the Group Buy for those of us
who don't already
have it?
Thanks,
Matthew

No, Altiverb is not included the group buy.

Okay, I've found out it only happens to one snare track I want to trigger. I
don't know what's different between this and the others I've already
triggered. I'll just try to change it.

I have altiverb but since Space Designer does everything altiverb
does why do you need altiverb .
